INTRODUCTION

San Andrés is a beautiful and exotic place for foreigners and natives as well. Taking it into account, food is one of the most important aspects in the culture of a region, so our group decided to research information related to food and drinks in order to know more about the gastronomy which belongs to the island.

As soon as we arrived to the island, we interacted with native people, in particular with the landladies and landlords.

We tried their delicious food and we immediately were attached to this part of the culture, the gastronomy. At the end it was not difficult for us to choose the topic for our final Project when Rebecca Pechthalt, our English tutor, informed us about this requirement.

As part of a strategy, we divided our class into small groups to gather information in a quicker way. We had different responsibilities to start collecting information to develop the project.
For instance, some teachers got information about recipes, some designed the brochure, others took pictures and videos, and some created the blog.

It was a great and interesting experience because we interacted with natives who felt happy to share with us, not only their land but also their culture.
Some of the culture they shared with us was dancing, language, religious and political beliefs. All of these aspects were shared around a table, served with the most delightful food.

Dear colleagues, it is a pleasure to share this blog with our community. It is a site which shows the most important and traditional dishes of the island. In this blog you can read step-by-step recipes, which visitors can follow to have the delicious Sanandrean food at home.
You can find a complete gallery of images taken of native lodges and their owners cooking food for us.

We take this moment to say thank you to all of these kind hosts who interacted with us and did their best to make us feel at home.

CONCLUSIONS

CONCLUSIONS

*                      San Andres Island’s food and drinks are evidence of a cultural richness and evidence of how Islanders have adapted themselves to the conditions both in the past and the present in regards to their gastronomy.
*                      Prompting San Andres Island’s typical food as a touristic attraction is an excellent opportunity to improve local business and in this way we can keep our cooking traditions.
*                      Developing this kind of project is a way to have a direct contact with people from the island and with their customs and their daily routines, and obviously a way to understand how they make use of all their resources.
